8(a) Sole Source
An 8(a) sole source contract is a federal contract awarded directly to a business that is certified under the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 8(a) Business Development Program, without the need for a competitive bidding process. These contracts are used when only one qualified 8(a) firm is identified as capable of fulfilling the requirement, or when competition is not practical or necessary.
